Introduction
P/Z is a
software program that allows you to quickly import or link to gas well data
from leading data sources and calculate gas material reserves for single or
multi-well pools. Results may be plotted or printed to any Windows compatible
printer.

P/Z's
current features enable the user to:
- Maintain
a permanent and up to date database of all the production history and pressure
data for your company wells.
- Use our
integration with IHS Energy (AccuMap) and Divestco, (GeoCarta, or MSI Capture) mapping
systems to automatically launch DECPRO and pass the selected wells to them for
viewing and analysis.
- Retrieve
wells from within the database by location, field, pool and unit code and
create well groups for future use.
- Interactively
exclude single data points in a well on screen or add or remove wells from
the multi-well pools during analysis.
- Quickly
toggle between pool and individual well gas material balance plots.
- Highlight
and view an individual well pressure history in a multi-well pool.
- Add new
pressure analysis information into the P/Z database as soon as it becomes
available.
- Automatically
calculate and display best-fit line on the P/Z versus cumulative production
graph.
- Define
the pool recoverable reserves by specifying the abandonment pressure or a
recovery pressure. For whichever one you choose, P/Z will calculate the other
one.
- Use automatically
imported government pool reservoir properties or create custom reservoir property
dataset for gas material analysis calculations.
- Save
up to five user-defined best-fit lines in a Fit Menu and select any one current
to be current.
- View
on-screen the production split of any well in the group for up to five user-defined
time periods.
- Plot
up to three production series on the pressure-time plot, including daily gas
rate, cumulative gas production, or water-gas ratio.
- Data
for all wells may be edited at any time.
- Open
the Pressure Table report to view all the pressure data for the currently
selected wells.
Special
Evaluation Features
P/Z has
a number of features that will assist the user in performing a P/Z gas reserves
evaluation. These key features are described below.
- P/Z will
alert the user if the selected wells in multi-well pool are from more than
one pool and the reservoir gas properties or datum depths are different.
- If more
than one pool is found, the user will be asked to select which pool gas properties
and datum elevation to use in the evaluation and P/Z will correct all pressures
to the defined datum depth.
- P/Z will
allow the user to open the pressure versus time, P/Z versus cumulative production
and the raw pressure data windows concurrently.
- P/Z will
automatically look for gas injection in all the selected wells and, if found,
will adjust the cumulative production to be cumulative production less cumulative
injection.
- The user
will be allowed to draw up to five user defined P/Z analyses on the material
balance graph for any multi-well group. This feature will allow the user to
establish a range of gas reserves and select the most appropriate value.
Sources of Data
Data
may be input into P/Z in the following ways:
- Import
production data using conventional export formats from Petro-Soft, IHS ENERGY
(AccuMap, International Petrodata, QC Data and Dwight’s US), Divestco, and geoLOGIC.
- Use GIS
mapping systems to select wells for viewing and obtain the well information
from transparent links to PPDM databases stored on internal computer networks
and/or remote data centres.
- P/Z contains
a facility for directly inputting wells pressure data, gas properties and
monthly production data for the wells if an electronic source of data is not
available.
- Corporate
SQL Server database users may wish to access their own production data. Petro-Soft
Systems will work with these users to develop an SQL interface for their specific
environment.
Well Selection
P/Z contains
a well selection window that allows the useryou to select wells by from all wells
in the database or any user-defined group of wells using a variety of well criterion.
The search criteria includes:
-
Well field, pool unit or operator codes.
-
Province/State
-
Primary product status
-
On-production date
-
Wells with temporary or permanent forecasts.
The selected
wells may then be saved as a group in the database for current to later use.
During interpretation, individual wells may be added or removed from the group
and P/Z will automatically recalculate the cumulative production and gas
reserves.
Reports and Plots
The user
may print the material balance and pressure-time graphs of raw or analyzed data
on any Windows compatible printer. Both of these graphs can be supplemented
with additional user-defined headings, well lists and pressure data. The
material balance graph can also be formatted to output the well production split
information alone with the list of wells. The pressure table report can be printed
or exported in *.csv or *.txt formats.
