Introduction
Petro-Soft Navigator is the most exciting oil and gas software product to be introduced to the petroleum industry in many years. Overlaying the Petro-Soft Phoenix Reserves management software and database system, the Navigator allows you to organize and view your corporate oil and gas well assets in a manner that makes the most sense to your company.
Contrary to other providers of reserves systems that serve only the Reserves Group, Petro-Soft Navigator has been designed to serve the Corporation at large. We believe that all departments within a company, be they in engineering, production, land or accounting departments, all need access to reserves information to do their jobs efficiently. Navigator is a software product that can help all these key departments get the information they need.
Develop Corporate Hierarchy
The snapshot
below demonstrates how a corporate hierarchy can be setup for any junior,
senior or major oil and gas company. The basic level for the Corporation is
the Property, which can be based on your engineering consultant's property names
or your own internal designations. Below the Property, you will create logical
well groups for all the wells in the Property. This process is similar to creating
sub-directories in a main directory for ease of use rather than having all the
files located under the main directory.

Above the Property level, you have the option of creating up to 10 levels of hierarchy. These can include such levels as Companies, Countries, Provinces, Teams, Districts, Accounting Area or any other user defined hierarchy. Navigator also allows you to easily change the order of the hierarchical levels if the need arises.
Anyone who has managed a corporate reserves system, is aware of the difficulties associated with keeping track of the corporate well list that is constantly changing due to new drilling, acquisition or dispositions. Each new well brought into the company must be put into a property and then a group for evaluation purposes. This can be an extremely complex process. Navigator has made this process almost enjoyable by providing the Microsoft® Explorer drag and drop capability to drag and drop a well from one well group to another within the same or a different property in the database. This feature makes the life of the reserves administrator who needs to add in all the new well drills into the corporate reserves process on a monthly basis easy!
Advanced Selection
Navigator includes an advanced selection feature that will allow the user to select any combination of properties groups or wells. Once selected the user may perform any number of transactions or run reports to derive specific data for the selected entities.
Launch Pad for Software
Once the corporate hierarchy has been established, Navigator can be used to launch the Petro-Soft Phoenix reserve modules or any of the Petro-Soft Office desktop tools from any hierarchical level. Navigator can also launch any number of reports that will give you the specific reserves system information you are looking for without the need to launch the reserves application.
Navigator can also be setup to launch one or more third party reports or applications that you have in-house. Imagine having the capability to launch your corporate mapping package, and going directly into the selected property that will display all the wells, pipelines, facilities and corporate lands for the property. Add to this map a current Crown land sale postings or your current remaining reserves for each well and you can see the valuable information you are giving to your technical staff.
Database options and security
The Navigator
can overlay OracleŽ or SQL Server databases, and the security feature of these
products will allow you to setup specific views for the various departments or
teams within the company with full editing capability while still allowing full
viewing capability to managers or executives that need to have access to information.
Navigator also contains powerful filtering capabilities that will allow the user
to select a custom view of corporate assets on any number of public or user
defined criteria.
